Church Fenton White Horse pub

The White Horse pub, situated in Church Fenton, has been saved by its customers. The pub, dated back to 1881, sadly closed in August 2016, however has been brought back to life by  community spirited villagers and the amazing efforts from the Church Fenton Parish Council and Church Fenton Community Hub Ltd.

In July 2018, Church Fenton Parish Council completed the purchase of The White Swan from Enterprise Inns through using a government loan from The Department for Communities, Housing and Local Government. There has now been a 50 year lease signed between the Parish Council and the Church Fenton Community Hub Ltd. The community hub will be managing the premises on behalf of the Parish Council.

There is also a lease been signed between the hub and H&P Pubs. They are hoping to have their refurbishment contractors working on site within August, meaning that the plan will be to have the pub/ restaurant open for business within the next 6 months.

With the recent hot weather, many community spirited people have been volunteering to help clear the site. However, further help is needed to reduce the cost of refurbishment. A share scheme has been set up , in which you can become a shareholder to reduce the costs to the Parish Council. So far, the target is £50,000 and there are currently more than 100 members who have already joined the exciting venture!

If you would like to become a shareholder, you can do so here.
