Saturday, 14th April saw the first free instructor-led training session for Sherburn in Elmet’s new outdoor gym. The new outdoor gym, situated on Eversley Park had a variety of local residents turn up for their free training session with the sound equipment.
Vice Chairman of the Selby District Council, Cllr David Buckle stated:
The Sherburn outdoor gym will facilitate two weekly training sessions which will continue over a six month period.
Commencing from May 1st, 2018, the outdoor gym will offer two free, instructor-led training sessions every week. The sessions are being held by Making Things Happen (MTH) who have over 40 years worth of experience.
The Western Community Engagement Forum is funding the training sessions. It is hoped that the training sessions will urge people to get more involved in physical activity and show those how to utilise the equipment safely. The training sessions will also help to develop a simple, suitable fitness regime for residents.
The new outdoor gym facility is free to use and will be open to anyone over the age of fourteen. The Sherburn outdoor gym includes disabled-friendly equipment as well as traditional exercise equipment.
