Due to the decline of stall holders willing to pitch at the Sherburn in Elmet Saturday market, the market could close if more interest is not generated.
Currently, there are only two stalls pitching at the Sherburn market each week which is located in the Elmete Social Club car park. The decline is said to be caused by the opening of the local Aldi according to Sherburn in Elmet Parish Cllr, David Buckle.
One of the main reasons the market is on a decline is due to the fact stallholders must bring their own stall, which are hard to obtain Cllr David Buckle stated. He also mentioned if more interest is generated over the next coming months he would be willing to see if providing stalls would be something the Council could assist with, in the near future.
