Sherburn Parish Elects New Councillor

Monday, 20th November 2017 saw a new Councillor elected for the Sherburn in Elmet Parish Council.

With a vacancy available on the Parish Council after the departure of Les Wake, five members of the community put their name forward in hopes to be selected as the new Parish Councillor.

The Sherburn in Elmet Parish Council consists of eleven councillors, with the newly elected named as local resident, John Boyd.  John’s thoughts on his new position were:

“I am really pleased to have been selected to be a member of the Sherburn in Elmet Parish Council and would like to thank all those who have supported me in the process. During the time I have lived in Sherburn, I have witnessed significant changes and developments to the village and as a Parish Councillor I look forward to being able to contribute to the wellbeing of our community and the future shaping and development of the village.

John Boyd has been involved in numerous activities for the village this year; one being his role as the Event Safety Officer and Vice Chair for the Sherburn in Elmet Craft & Food Festival which saw people travel from around the UK to attend the three-day event during the August Bank Holiday weekend, which proved to be a huge success.
