Young Chef Competition Winner

The annual Young Chef Competition which is run by the Osgoldcross & Elmet Rotary Club has seen another fantastic turnout for the cooking competition this year.  With more young chefs entering the competition each year, the competition is really starting to heat up!

The Young Chef Competition is being supported by Owner and Chef, Kirsty from The Queen o’ t’ owd Thatch, South Milford.  Kirsty has given her time to provide a professional assessment of the food presented by the candidates and also judge the competition to help select a worthy winner.

Max Burdekin (pictured to the right) was this year’s local competition winner.  Max was up against 5 other students from Sherburn High School, all of who all took part in the local, Young Chef Competition.  Max will go on to take part in the national Young Chef Competition, which will take place at York College on January 15th, 2018.

President of the Osgoldcross & Elmet Rotary Club, June Lancaster said:

“As usual, the standard was high and this time we managed to have a sneaky taste of some of the dishes!”

The national competition will include the other local Young Chef Competition winners from the various other Rotary Clubs throughout the UK.  We wish Max the best of luck and look forward to seeing how he gets on in the national competition next year!
