It is less than 3 months until Sherburn has its Community Library. Yes from 1st April, the Library will be run by volunteers, backed up by 15 hours paid support from NYCC plus the professional librarians and IT support from North Yorkshire.
We have been busy recruiting volunteers and have been blown away at the great response from the Community. We already have 54 people who have signed up to help in the Library. During January to March we will be undergoing training from NYCC and you may see some of us working alongside the existing team.
We are not planning to change much when we first take over,. Opening times will remain the same. We would like to consult with our users on any changes they would like in the future. To start off we want to offer exactly the same services and level of customer care that the current team provide plus the community hub. It going to be a tough act to follow. We would like to pay tribute to all the NYCC people who currently work in Sherburn Library and who have served our Community so well. We wish them well for the future
