North Yorkshire Police offers a free Dot Peen property marking service to anyone in North Yorkshire.
Dot peen marking involves using a tungsten carbide-tipped pin to indent an object with dots to create a visible, permanent unique number.
The unique number is then put into the national Immobilise property register database.
Marking something like this increases the chances that you’ll get it back if it’s lost or stolen. It also helps Police get convictions as evidence when something is stolen.
It can be done to everything from steel and aluminium to plastic, so almost anything can be marked, from farming equipment, power tools, to electrical devices, bikes and equestrian tack.
Members of The Neighbourhood Policing Team will be at the following locations at the following times on Tuesday 23rd April to offer this service. Please feel free to call by with items or to seek further advice and information from the team.
