Harold Mills Re-opens

A fire damaged community centre in Sherburn-in-Elmet has been officially reopened this week. Harold Mills Community Centre which has been in disuse since a suspected arson attack last year, can now re-open as a community centre, which is used by many of the village’s elderly residents.

Members of the community, residents that used the centre and local councillors came together to celebrate the official reopening of the Harold Mills Community Centre.

The Council pledged to rebuild the centre following the fire in April 2016 and worked closely with residents to ensure the new £60,000 centre meets the needs of the community it serves.

The layout of the centre has been changed to allow residents to make the most of the space that the facility offers and the colour scheme has been brightened up, following feedback from the community.

The centre looks fantastic, and residents that used the building before the fire, can now enjoy being back in their much loved Harold Mills Centre.
