Mel Hobson Voted County Councillor

Last Thursday the local elections were held, where Sherburn residents were voting for who they want to represent the village as County Councillor for the Sherburn in Elmet division. The county council’s responsibilities include transport, protecting children and looking after older people.

Three candidates were running for the role, Mel Hobson (Cons), Steve Howley (Lab) and Hugh Kelly (LibDem).

A turn out of 2788 (37.51%) people who voted resulted in Mel Hodson being voted new Councillor for the Sherburn in Elmet division.

The votes were counted and results were for Sherburn in Elmet:

  • Mel Hobson (Cons) 1,604
  • Steve Howley (Lab) 1,001
  • Hugh Kelly (LibDem) 176
