The Sherburn High School Performing Arts department is excited to announce that the school production 2018 is going to be We Will Rock You! This great musical was a huge success when the school performed it in 2012 and is a fantastic opportunity for students to be involved in a fun and enriching experience! The performance will be held on Wednesday 28th February & Thursday 1st March 2018. So what is ‘We Will Rock You’ about?
Based on the songs of legendary British rock band Queen, We Will Rock You is set in the distant future and tells the story of a group of ‘Bohemians’ who fight to restore the freedom of thought, live music and fashion where everyone on the planet dresses, thinks and acts the same. Musical instruments and composers are forbidden and rock music is all but unknown! With the government eliminated, all are controlled by the worldwide mega-corporation Globalsoft, headed by ‘Killer Queen’ and her evil commander of the secret police Khashoggi. Those who dare to stand against Globalsoft are kidnapped and ‘brainstormed’ into submission. It is up to Galileo and his fellow partner Scaramouche to overthrow Globalsoft and let Rock Music live on!
With fantastic performances to come from our incredibly talented students and one or two-star guest performers, they are sure this is going to be a knock-out show guaranteed to rock your socks off!
