It has been confirmed during the latest Sherburn in Elmet Parish Council meeting that the Sherburn Bears Rugby Club will be receiving the community Section 106 money to help refurbish their clubhouse located at the Eversley Park field.
Earlier this month, we wrote an article regarding the upcoming Sherburn in Elmet Parish Council meeting where Councillors met to discuss spending up to £10,702.80 of the Section 106 money to fund a new outdoor gym for the community.
Whilst the Parish Council have decided they will move forward with plans for the new gym, they will not be using Section 106 funding for it. You can read the article and find out more about Section 106 in our previous post here.
David Buckle, Sherburn Parish Councillor stated:
“We will be using the Section 106 money to help refurbish the Sherburn Rugby Club and bring the building back up to date. We will be helping them by ensuring they have new showers and changing areas that will make the building fit for purpose. The outdoor gym is still going ahead with funding coming directly from the Parish Council and possibly an additional grant from the likes of Tesco Bags of Help.”
In addition to the above improvements, the Sherburn Rugby Club will also be fitted with new CCTV to discourage vandalism. The Sherburn Bears have played on the pitch at Eversley Park since the 1960’s and have rugby teams for adults as well as children.
