Tracey Rooney graduated from Sherburn High School in 1986 and has since gone on to win the prestigious BAFTA Award for directing the popular CBBC kid’s TV Show, Class Dismissed.
Tracey will be remembered by older pupils and parents who also attended Sherburn High around the same year. Along with various classmates, Tracey thoroughly enjoyed acting and would regularly take part in the school’s plays.
After leaving her hometown to graduate with a BA (Honours) from the University of Kent, Tracey Rooney started her career at ITV Granda, then later moving to the BBC as a researcher. She was then promoted to a Director at the BBC and can now be seen directing popular TV Shows such as Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Holby City, Hollyoaks and various others.
Tracey Rooney has been nominated previously for various BAFTA Awards such as for her work on Coronation Street in 2006 and again in 2014 for All At Sea, but this nomination was her first win. Her hard work has finally paid off and she walked away this November with a 2017 British Academy Children’s Awards for the best Children’s Comedy – Class Dismissed.
