Local charity, Peter Pan Nursery have been on the mission to raise funds to the value of £5,000 to help fund their refurbishment of the Sherburn in Elmet Charity Shop located on Finkle Hill. The new refurbishment will see the downstairs area get a much-needed facelift with the addition of a brand new kitchen and toilet which will be available for any member of the public to use.
The Peter Pan Charity Shop is the main source of income for the Peter Pan Nursery. Peter Pan Nursery is a registered charity based in Sherburn in Elmet that cares for children and families with additional needs.
In addition to this, the upstairs room will be turned into a community area for local groups to use for events, informal meetings and classes. The charity has stated the new community area will be free of charge to use and can even facilitate people with tea/coffee whilst they are there.
Kay Goodall, Administrator & Fundraiser for Peter Pan Nursery said:
I am really excited to add the new community area to the charity shop to facilitate groups who need space to carry out meetings or just to have a natter. I am also planning to do a couple of psychic nights in the new community area as well. We only need £1,300 to reach our goal of £5,000 otherwise, the funds will come out of Peter Pan Nursery funds which would set us back tremendously.
So far, the charity has raised £3,700 out of £5,000 in total with £2,500 coming from The Western Community Engagement Forum, £200 from the Blakemore Foundation (which is the Spar’s charitable trust) and £1,000 from the Selby Council to specifically use for the kitchen and toilet area as these areas will become public use.
Kay also mentioned that clothes with holes, rips or stains are also accepted by the charity shop as they can be recycled for cash and people should not deter from donating these items to the shop.
The community area will have a brand new carpet, be fully panelled and have additional shelving installed to showcase products. To donate to Peter Pan Nursery contact Kay on 01977 681 863 or email Kay at office@peterpannursery.co.uk.
