Fairburn Singers Christmas Programme

2019 has been another eventful year for the Fairburn Singers. April saw them collaborating with Castleford Choral Society in the wonderful setting of Selby Abbey. A packed audience enjoyed individual offerings from the 2 choirs and then they came together for a performance of John Rutter’s ‘Feel The Spirit’ – it really did lift the spirits of all who were there.

They also Swung into Summer alongside the Doncaster Youth Swing Orchestra in St Giles’ Church, Pontefract at the end of June. The night was a huge success and the talent and commitment of the young musicians was very much appreciated. Then they went on their 3rd Cruise Choir Trip, leaving from Dover, they sailed down the River Seine to Rouen and back to Honfleur aboard the fabulous Boudicca. If you would like to join them in the future, or see a report of the cruise, visit the website www.fairburnsingers.co.uk. As usual, they performed 2 concerts on board to a packed Neptune Lounge. It never fails to thrill them all.

It’s coming up to The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, as the Fairburn Singers are already well into rehearsals for their Christmas programme. You will be able to hear some old favourites together with some new favourites.

Forthcoming performances:

Monday, 9 December at Knottingley Community Church
Saturday 14 December at Selby Abbey. This year they are joined again by Doncaster Youth Swing Orchestra – a wonderful night is guaranteed with these amazing young musicians.
Monday 16 December is the Annual Christmas Concert at the Fairburn Community Centre. Always a popular venue, there will be the usual fabulous, festive refreshments and the ever-popular raffle.
Sunday 22 December 1.30-3.30 pm sees an informal group from the Choir carol-singing in the Great Hall at Temple Newsam House. Children especially welcome!

All concerts start at 7.30 pm – don’t be late to get a good seat. The Fairburn Singers shall be presenting a cheque to one of their chosen charities at the Fairburn concert – Cancer Research UK. This year they are also supporting The Prince of Wales’ Hospice, Pontefract, and they shall present their cheque at the Hospice itself.
