Elmet Lions is the local member of the Lions Club International. Based in Sherburn in Elmet they get involved with lots of fundraising events and activities as well as local projects to help raise money and provide support for local needs.
This Christmas they have organised for 50 home-cooked Christmas Dinners to be provided and delivered to local residents who may be alone, unable to cook, or struggling financially due to the effects of COVID.
To make all of this possible Elmet Lions are working together with Carol Coley at the Wheatsheaf Pub, Sherburn Coronavirus Aid Group (SCAG), the Sherburn Visiting Scheme as well as Selby Food Bank and local Parish Councillors.
Carol Coley of the Wheatsheaf pub in Sherburn will be cooking the Christmas Dinners ready for them to be delivered to residents from 12’oclock on Christmas Day. The dinners are 3 courses with the main meal to include turkey, pork and beef.
If you wish to find out more about this service or would like to arrange for a meal to be delivered, then please contact Sue at the Sherburn Visiting Scheme on 01977 681828.
