On 22nd September the volunteer run community library was re-opened by North Yorkshire Council. Closed by the pandemic, the library saw the opportunity to use the closure to carry out an extensive refurbishment.
The building has seen a full re-decoration, installation of new lighting, shelving and reception desk and new carpet fitted throughout. The new look features an attractive roof light to the brightly coloured children’s area.
The library was able to re-open back in April but due to restrictions an official opening event has not been possible until now. Those in attendance at the event included Sherburn Parish Council, Selby District Council, North Yorkshire County Council, councillors from surrounding villages, library volunteers, Sherburn Community Trust, some local businesses, and residents.
County Councillor Margaret Atkinson (The Vice Chair of North Yorkshire County Council) cut the ribbon to officially announce the library open.
