Sherburn Bears Rugby Club

Sherburn Bears Rugby Club has been around for over 50 years as an amateur rugby league team.  There is an adults and children’s team with female and male divisions available.

Sherburn Bears ARLFC has been a force to be reckoned with throughout their 5o years and has always been a hard team for opponents to get a win over.  The club was originally started by founder members G.Crawford and G.Romans who were both previous rugby players.

Despite only being a small village team, Sherburn Bears Rugby Club has managed to field a full team without a break throughout each season.  The team have always relied on a good number of players from outside of the village, with local areas such as Selby, Brotherton, Knottingley, Castleford, Pontefract, Featherstone and York being just some of the places that former players have hailed from.

The club has now made the transition from winter rugby to summer rugby and is growing all the time with the open age side looking forward to its 51st season and an increase in the junior teams. Sherburn Bears ARLFC now has an under 7’s team, under 8’s team and an under 16’s team.  In addition to this, they also have recently introduced a girl’s under 16’s team to their club from 2018.

If you are interested in playing Rugby League please contact Paul Romans (07793079844) for open age, Paul Dutson (07580216921) for junior and Amanda Romans (07900932827) for the girl’s teams.

Sherburn Bears Rugby Club meetings, training sessions and games take place at Eversley Park.
