Services aim to support individuals and families facing food insecurity. From non-perishable goods to essential hygiene products, they strive to meet the basic needs of their community members.
In October 2024 a group of local residents created the Sherburn in Elmet Community Larder (SIECL), in order to help alleviate food poverty within the town. Working together as a charity (Registered Charity No. 1211204) SIECL could provide a service that was regrettably not present in Sherburn.
Purpose as a charity is to help those who are struggling with food by providing a weekly foodbank-style service.
WHEN : Tuesdays
WHERE : Methodist Church
TIME : 8am – 10am
No Referral needed, No Vouchers needed
Due to being a small charity, we operate with a tight-knit team of volunteers, on a small scale. That means that when people access their service, they are given a tick-list of items that they can choose from. This is then sent to their storage facility to be made and brought up, whilst their customers can sit and have a cup of tea or coffee.
Donations
Tins and non-perishables are greatly appreciated. Also accept essential household items.
