Selby District Council has pledged £20,000 to support the inaugural Sherburn Craft and Food Festival, which promises to bring a significant boost for the village over the August Bank Holiday. The volunteer working group and organisers, SIE Teasel Trust are delighted to have their backing.
All money raised from this large scale event will be ploughed back into the village for the benefit of the residents and the local economy.
Sherburn in Elmet are holding the first, in what will be an annual Craft and Food Festival on August Bank holiday weekend, 2017. The festival was inspired by Cawood Craft Festival, which sadly reached its final year in 2016, after a 32 year history.
With over 100 food and craft stalls, live entertainment, demo kitchens with celebrity chefs, children’s cookery school, a fun fair, vintage cars and bikes and plenty more family entertainment, it is set to be a fantastic 3 days.
The event is being organised by the Sherburn Teasel Community Interest Company, with support from Selby District Council and other organisations such as Welcome to Yorkshire, Sherburn-in-Elmet Parish Council, local community groups and local businesses. The event organisers have a long-term ambition to make the festival a regular annual fixture in the village’s events calendar.
