The Parish Council have been successful in applying for a grant to provide all-weather matting for the two entrances to Eversley Park. Those who use the footpath in the northwest corner (near the Scout Hut and All Saints Church) know that it can get very muddy and will benefit from all-weather matting. The other entrance near the Eversley Park Centre does get a lot of use with the Gala in particular and this year there will be the Craft & Food Festival over the three days of the August Bank Holiday weekend. Having all-weather matting will improve access to all areas of the park.
Funding is being provided under the Tesco Bags of Help scheme, which channels money received through the plastic bag levy back into the local community. How much we get will depend upon a public vote in local Tesco stores – the minimum will be £1000, but if they get the most votes they will receive £5000.
You may remember a successful Sherburn bid last year when the Community Trust won a grant towards refurbishing the Old Girls School on Kirkgate to provide community facilities. They council hope with your votes they can do it again. Voting is now open so please call at Tesco, make a purchase and vote for Eversley Park.
Voting closes on the 25th February.
