The annual Art & Craft Fair is held in the nearby village of Thorpe Willoughby, as they have outgrown the facilities available in Monk Fryston. All artworks and crafts exhibited and for sale are the work of Art Club members.
After the success of their previous project, when members each painted a rectangle of a famous painting by Klimt which were combined to make a large collage displayed at our annual exhibition (Art & Craft Fair) we are making a similar effort this year.
The subject is a picture of Selby Abbey, which has been broken down into sections, each approx A4 size. A different member will paint each panel, in their own choice of medium, and they will be combined in a finished collage to be displayed at the Fair.
Monk Fryston Art Club
The Art Club was founded in 1990 by Jean Dearn, who is still an active member and our Life President. Although they are based in the North Yorkshire village of Monk Fryston, their members come from a much wider area of Yorkshire. Their interests spread across all kinds of media, in both art and crafts, and they welcome members of all levels of ability – they all learn from each other. Prospective members can contact them through the SAA register of Art Clubs.
