Notice of Works Close to Sherburn Over Christmas

A letter has been sent out to those residing close to the area. It reads as follows:

Important Notice – London Road to Laith Slade Lane

I am writing to make you aware of essential work that is going to take place in your area. This is part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade which is transforming journeys across the North, by better connecting towns and cities through more frequent, faster trains, running on a cleaner, greener, and more reliable railway.

When will we be working?

Our teams will be working on the following dates and times:

From 18:00 on Sunday 24 December 2023 to 06:00 on Wednesday 27 December 2023

Why are we doing the work?

We are installing overhead electric cable piles, these create the strong foundations for us to build onto when we bring in the electrification later in the project.

Piling is the process of vibrating and hammering steel piles into the ground. The machinery which is needed to complete this can result in a high level of noise and vibration disturbance, for which I apologise in advance. You can read more information about the piling process at: www.networkrail.co.uk/piling

How will we manage the impact on our neighbours?

I understand that working near your property is far from ideal, particularly over Christmas Day and Boxing Day and I am sorry in advance for any disruption this may cause. This is the most efficient and least disruptive way to undertake this essential activity. However, our teams have been briefed and will be mindful when carrying out this work, making sure all the relevant mitigations are in place to avoid excess noise disturbance. We will also continue to keep you updated with any work taking place near to your property.
