It is with deep sadness we announce the loss of the much-love Sherburn in Elmet Resident, the wonderful Myrtle Hall, who tragically passed away on Saturday.
Myrtle Hall was a name known to so many around the village, she was described as a truly amazing and inspirational lady that did so much for our community. Alongside her sister Alma, Myrtle has worked tirelessly over the years to bring joy, happiness and laughter to our village. Myrtle was one of the founders of the Sherburn Gala, which even now 43 years on is one of the most loved and iconic events in Sherburn in Elmet, an event which brings fun to the village, something Myrtle herself was well known for.
She always put a lot of work into saving the Old Girls School, an achievement she successfully made as it reopened its doors last year.
She did so much work for our community, always striving to make it a better place and for that we are truly thankful.
Our thoughts are with Alma and all of their family, she will be greatly missed by so many!
