The Sherburn Community Association have been planting around the village over the last week.
They chose to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee for their planting this year. In the village centre they have red, white and blue plants, (patriotic) and for the outlying tubs have gone for purple and silver plants. Purple and silver they believe to be the queen’s favourite colours!
They have been greatly helped by Fields Garden Centre who donated some plants for them to use.
They have also had a lot of support from local businesses, and the Parish Council.
Their sponsors for a number of years include Co-op Funeral care, Finkle Hill Dental Care, George Croston, Elmsleys Solicitors and Estate Agents, Emmerson Doors, and the Elmet and Osgoldcross Rotary Club.
They said:
“We would not have been able to achieve what we have done without their support.”
This year their new sponsors include Rainforest Windows, Als Tyres, B & S Flooring, Elmet Dental Care, Sherburn DIY and Apps Anywhere.
“With this added support we have added to the planting we normally do every year. Again we are very grateful for their support.”
“We hope the villagers and visitors appreciate our efforts to make Sherburn in Elmet an even more pleasant place.” They said.
