Following our recent news article on the Ofsted Success at Sherburn High School, here is the official statement from the school – well done once again to everyone involved, what a fantastic result for our community!
It’s congratulations all round for Sherburn High School who have just been officially judged as GOOD by Ofsted; the first time in 16 years! It’s an incredible achievement for students and staff and wonderful news for the local community.
The published Ofsted report celebrates the school’s many successes of recent years including the best exam results in the Selby area. It praises the significant strengths of the leadership team and in particular the driving ambition of the Head Teacher, Mrs Maria Williams, who has systematically addressed the areas for improvement identified at the last inspection. The inspection report pleasingly recognises the improvements in teaching, governance and the sixth form and praises leaders, teachers and students for their hard work and commitment to learning. The Head Teacher commented, “The report affirms what we have known for a long time that this school is GOOD in all areas. We are thrilled to have the official stamp of approval from Ofsted but this community deserves an OUTSTANDING school and there is still further work to be done; we are in no way complacent and we are already planning for the next stage of our journey”.
