The awards have now been handed out to all the winners of the Sherburn in Elmet 100 Club Community Volunteer Awards.
The awards recognise the local people and businesses who have helped the community throughout the pandemic in a variety of different ways. Local residents nominated all of the finalists for their hard work and efforts throughout the pandemic.
100 Club Community Volunteer Award Winners:
Penny Jackson – Penny received an award for her efforts throughout the pandemic supporting the community by making face masks and by offering additional take out services from Penny’s Deli. –Award sponsored by Cllr Dave Brook
Starkey’s Butchers – Received an award in recognition of all the hard work delivering and keeping customers happy throughout the pandemic. – Award sponsored by Cllr Dave Brook
James and Gemma Stead – Received an award in recognition of their fundraising efforts by fundraising for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the NHS during the pandemic. – Award sponsored by Cllr Dave Brook.
Kerry Wharmby – Kerry received the Myrtle Hall Memorial Award in recognition of her hard work providing food hampers and support to the residents of Sherburn throughout the pandemic.
Maggie Holmes – Maggie received an award for supporting local community groups and fundraising for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. She also gave countless hours to help in the SCAG being one of the main volunteers. – Award sponsored by Cllr Dave Brook
Keith Booth – Keith Received his award for his efforts during the pandemic helping to deliver prescriptions throughout the village to those who needed help. –Award Sponsored by Creative Shed Agency.
Maggy Hunt – Maggy received an award for her efforts supporting the community by producing facemasks throughout the pandemic for residents. – Award sponsored by AB Agri Ltd (ABN)
Sherburn White Rose FC – Ben Bradley and Neil Mclure received the award on behalf of everyone at Sherburn White Rose FC. The award was in recognition of all the coaches, junior players, parents and managers who distributed 3500 letters to households across Sherburn at the height of the pandemic which highlighted the support available. – Award sponsored by Cllr Dave Brook
Leanne Beal – Leanne receiver her award in recognition of her efforts creating facemasks for local residents throughout the pandemic. – Award sponsored by AB Agri Ltd (ABN)
Malcolm Dowson – Malcolm received an award in recognition for his fundraising efforts for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, something which he has done for over 18 years before finally retiring last month.- Award sponsored by Jayne Brogie, a local resident and member of the Sherburn Gala Committee.
Micky Hawes – Micky received an award for his efforts coordinating the volunteers who supported the community throughout the pandemic, and he was the lead volunteer for the SCAG. He also coordinated youth teams at Sherburn White Rose to deliver letters to over 3500 residents. – Award Sponsored by Selby District Council
Emma Littlewood – Emma received her award in recognition of her hard work, creating facemasks/bags required by key workers whilst still working on the frontline herself as an NHS worker. – Award sponsored by AB Agri Ltd (ABN)
Aldi – Aldi won their award in recognition of the work they did to keep everyone safe whilst shopping throughout the pandemic. – Award sponsored by Selby District Council
Shaun Weatherhead – Shaun Weatherhead and his daughter Remi received the award on behalf of ‘Uman’ The Superhero Fundraiser, for organising a series of charity walkabouts across Yorkshire throughout the pandemic raising money for Yorkshire Air Ambulance. – Award Sponsored by Selby District Council
The Wheatsheaf – Carol Coley, Landlady of The Wheatsheaf, was nominated by residents for going the extra mile providing hot food deliveries to Sherburn and the surrounding villages throughout the pandemic. – Award sponsored by Cllr Dave Brook

A special Plaque will be going up in the village recognising the hard work of all key workers throughout this pandemic.
