Work to develop and refurbish the small ‘Pocket Park’ which sits close to the library has begun.
The Redesign is intended to be robust and practical to deter anti-social behaviour and will include more seating areas, more open space for outdoor activities, a litter bin, additional lighting and it will include some Teasel artwork. There will also be some CCTV installed as part of a wider scheme covering nearby areas.
The refurbishment is happening thanks to a project partnership between Sherburn in Elmet Community Trust and Sherburn in Elmet Parish Council as well as a grant from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government through part of the ‘Pocket Park Plus Programme’.
Work is due to be completed in around six weeks and it is hoped that the area will be used and enjoyed by people of all different age groups.
