The Sherburn in Elmet U3A group was set up in 2010, and has now reached a new milestone of enrolling their 500th member, Sherburn resident, Karen Packham. The U3A group is a member of the University of the Third Age, a national organisation which gives educational help to people in the later stages of their lives, including retirement. The Sherburn group is very popular with the more mature residents, with member ranging from ages of 50 to late 80’s, meeting once a month to discuss a variety of matters.

Chairman Liz Sibson said: “We have a very enthusiastic membership, which take part in the various education groups.” The group meet at the Eversley Park Centre each month, and are very pleased to welcome newcomer Karen.
