The Fairburn Singers concerts – July 11 & 21

And now for something a little different. They are joining the children from Fairburn Primary School for an evening of singing and fun.

Each choir will perform individually and then join together with songs from Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

This promises to be a heart-warming evening and one not to be missed.

Mums, Dads, Grandmas, Grandads, Aunties and Uncles are all very welcome, Hope to see you all there!

The very popular Summer concert will be a little different this year. They are joined by 2 guests. The first is a Composer and Pianist from Latvia, who has written a piece of music about Gaia – the personification of the Earth. And the second guest is Anthony Thompson – local Trumpeter who joined them at Selby Abbey,

Ēriks Eglītis, composer from Riga wrote his music about the birth of the universe – the music then had words written for it by a member of Fairburn Singers – Helen de Voy. This will be the first time it is performed in public! There are exhibitions about Gaia, the beginnings of the world, in many locations around the country throughout the year.

Anthony Thompson is another talented musician with 25-years’ experience. He began his musical training at The Salvation Army in Castleford, progressing through a music scholarship to Ackworth School and Hull University, where he graduated with an Honours Degree in Music. He is one of the busiest trumpeters in the North of England
