Votes needed to claim grant up to £100,000 for local club

Sherburn Community Gymnastics Club are delighted to have made it into the final of a brand new Building Futures Competition.

The competition is set up to support children in health, sport, education and the arts and is giving away over £1 million in total this year. Persimmon Homes and Team GB are supporting the competition.

There has already been a number of cash donations of £1000 each and now in the final stages the prizes range from £5000 to £100,000.

Local clubs Sherburn White Rose Juniors, Sherburn Community Gymnastics Club and 2434 Church Fenton Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets all benefited from the prizes presented in the last few months.

Sherburn Community Gymnastics Club, based on Sherburn Industrial Estate is through to the final stages and now needs votes to claim their prize.

The Club runs 29 classes a week for gymnasts from the age of 2 to 17 years old and they work hard to keep club fees affordable so that all young people can benefit from the sport.

With 400 members, and rapidly growing, replacing, maintaining and adding new equipment is essential for gymnast’s development.

SCGC state that they would use the top prize to purchase specific apparatus, with the accompanying safety matting and hopefully develop a classroom for theory training purposes.

The new equipment will allow us them coach more advanced techniques creating new opportunities for both recreational and competitive gymnasts.
