Diploma in Counselling Level 3
Start date: 02/10/23

WEA - online courses due to start in the second part of September and October.

Learners will explore counselling skills theories and understand how to apply them in their job role. They will gain awareness of the importance of diversity and ethics and appreciate how counselling skills can support the personal development of others. Team working and communication are key skills for CVs in support work. The Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills takes around 160 hours to complete. After, learners can progress to Level 4 Counselling courses.

Award in Mental Health Awareness Level 1
Start date: 21/09/23

Level 1 mental health awareness training gives learners a broad overview of mental health issues. It can be the first step to further study in various areas. You can progress to a Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness or Adult Social Care. This can lead to jobs working in care homes or as a mental health support worker.

Creative Writing: Take a Picture, Tell its Story
Start date: 26/09/23

The purpose of this course is to aid learners in finding the confidence and inspiration to get writing, using photographs as stimulus to creating original writing and developing creative skills. Using their own photography, learners will create a unique piece of writing which can be fact or fiction; they will learn some handy tips and tricks to really bring out their “inner writer”.

Helping with Special Education Needs and Disabilities
Start date: 22/09/23

For learners who help out in a school, community centre or a charity. Special needs education can help learners be inclusive and understand what to expect and how to support all learning needs. A key part of our curriculum, our Environment courses are always popular and give learners the opportunity to explore a wide range of topics. Learners can experience the unique way of learning here at the WEA, with small class sizes and experienced tutors providing the ideal place to discuss the challenges posed by our ever-changing environment.

*Over 90% of applicants for skills courses do not need to pay a fee. Subject to status – courses are free for unemployed people, job seekers and people on low wage. If learners do not qualify they will be alerted during the application process.
